Oftentimes, Mississippi is overlooked and underrated; however, the state actually has a lot to offer (which is no surprise to those of us who already call Mississippi home). After a recent study, The Tax Foundation found the buying power of $100 varies by as much as 25% throughout the country. Another finding of the study? That $100 goes the furthest in Mississippi.

When it comes to continuing your education, Mississippi has got you covered. The state is home to over 50, (yes, that’s right, 50) colleges, universities, and technical schools.

3. Live rurally, play in a city.

Just because much of Mississippi is rural it doesn’t mean residents miss out on big city amenities. With large cities like Jackson, Hattiesburg, Biloxi, and Gulfport, there’s access to great entertainment, nightlife, amazing restaurants, and more.
