Mississippi has long been known as the Hospitality State. So, it should come as no surprise that Ocean Springs has been named one of the nation’s friendliest cities. The new accolade is just another reason to visit the idyllic coastal city.
According to the website Travel Awaits, Ocean Springs is one of the friendliest small towns in the U.S. – and we couldn’t agree more!
Ocean Springs was one of just 15 towns selected, making the honor even more impressive.
And while Ocean Springs is technically a “small town,” it’s got all the perks of a bigger city – this, combined with its recent accolade, make it a great day trip destination.
No visit would be complete without a stroll in downtown Ocean Springs, where you’ll find top-notch dining and funky boutiques.
There’s also a vibrant art and music scene, which played a part in Ocean Springs being named one of the “coolest small towns in America.”
Lots of museums make it easy to learn about Ocean Springs’ lengthy history (the city was founded in 1699!) and its rich culture.
And just like any other friendly small town, Ocean Springs plays host to lots of great festivals throughout the year.
Man-made perks aren’t all you’ll find in Ocean Springs, though. It’s also home to the Davis Bayou Area, which is part of the Gulf Islands National Seashore.
One day just isn’t enough time to explore all Ocean Springs has to offer.
Luckily, there are lots of great accommodations, such as the floating cabins at The Beatnik.
