The people who live in DC are a special bunch. There's so many unique traits about DC that living here often gives the residents their own unique traits. No matter, we just can't avoid these Washingtonian habits.

1. Loving Sunday brunch

We know that most states do brunch but not everyone does brunch like we do in DC and not everyone loves it like Washingtonians do.

2. Always keeping an umbrella with you

DC weather is a little bit... unpredictable, let's say. Most Washingtonians make it a habit to keep their umbrella with them.

3. Not saying hi or making eye contact

It's not that we mean to be rude... we're just not used to making eye contact in DC. We look straight or down and walk quickly here.

4. Cheering for losing football teams

We want to be good and we hope one day we'll be good. We always believe after every draft that we will be good. But we just never are.

5. Asking everyone "So what do you do?"

DC is somewhat of an industry town. Most people work for the government or some government related entity. So the topic of careers come up quite frequently.

6. Being able to drive in traffic.

We're taught to drive in traffic. We always drive in traffic. We can handle traffic. Because it never ends here.

7. Being "in the know" on politics

There must be something about living in the city where it all happen. Because even if we don't work in politics, we still manage to be in the know on political happenings.

8. Freaking out over the snow

No matter what the forecast, we are going to freak out. We will raid the grocery store and wake up early to check cancellations.

9. Playing tour guide

As soon as someone from outside of DC shows up, we start pointing out famous buildings and giving out historic tidbits.

10. Standing on the right side of the elevator

This one goes without explanation.

11. Metro etiquette

Metro rules aren't just guidelines here. We follow them. We're quiet, we don't listen to loud music or eat or drink on the train. It's not taught. This is just ingrained.
