If you've encountered the following 11 things in Maryland, you've likely learned your lesson to stay away. Read on to discover this cheeky list of things everyone in Maryland should avoid at all costs.
1. The grocery store right before a snowstorm.
Need toilet paper, eggs, bread, and milk? Enter at your own risk.
2. Speaking of snow, you should avoid driving in it as well.
If you have the option to stay home, please do. If not, take your time when driving.
3. Ordering crab cakes out of state.
Even if an out of state restaurant claims their crab cakes are "Maryland style," chances are, you'll be disappointed.
4. Rush hour traffic.
Okay, this one is unavoidable for those nine-to-fivers. Just be prepared to have a lot of patience when leaving the office. A LOT.
5. Steamed crabs during winter.
If a restaurant offers steamed crabs during winter (yes, it happens and it's baffling), they're likely frozen. Don't waste your money.
6. Driving to Ocean City in summer during peak hours.
Nobody likes being stuck in back-to-back traffic on the Bay Bridge. To (hopefully) avoid this, try leaving before sunrise or after sunset.
7. Putting away your winter clothes too early.
Sometimes, April and May surprise us with chilly weather. It's best to keep a few sweaters on hand, just in case.
8. Road construction.
If there's an alternate route, take it. Depending on where you're heading, road construction can delay your trip from minutes to hours.
9. Speed cameras.
Marylanders are known to be speedy. Be sure to use caution and keep an eye out for speed cameras.
10. Ticks.
There are incredibly high numbers of Lyme disease in northeastern states when compared with the rest of the country. Bug spray is your friend!
11. Saying Maryland is boring.
There are so many natural wonders to explore around the state, as well as concert venues, unique restaurants, and more.
