Have you ever heard a stereotype about our state that you just know is true? These Kansas stereotypes aren't really wrong at all, but that doesn't mean they're bad stereotypes. In fact, we love our state how it is! There's nothing that we love more than these quirks that make our state uniquely ours. Let's check it out!

1. We don't mind getting down and dirty.

Whether that's due to a four-wheeler or a day at the lake, mud isn't your enemy in Kansas.

2. State and county fairs are THAT important to us.

When the fair rolls around, your whole schedule revolves around it. With any luck, you've got something entered in the fair and you win this year!

3. There really are a lot of farms and farmers here.

We don't run around looking like those "country bumpkini" types, but if you see someone wearing cowboy boots that look old and dirty, you can bet that they work hard and play hard. Farming is a hard job, and it takes a good amount of Kansans to do it right.

4. For the most part, Kansas is pretty darn flat.

We're technically flatter than the average pancake, and we're in the top 10 for flattest states in the US. If that isn't enough, what is?

5. Yes, it's usually very windy.

Dodge City is the windiest city around, and if it's a windless day in Kansas, something's not right.

6. Most of us love hunting, fishing, and other outdoor activities.

Even if we only hunt or fish for food, many of us do it for sport as well. It's an activity with plenty of local participators wherever you go!

7. We really do hate the Wizard of Oz jokes.

They get old after the first one, I promise. You're only the millionth person to mention that we "aren't in Kansas anymore, Toto."

8. You actually do get "stuck" behind farm equipment on rural highways.

Usually they aren't going very far, but if you drive on a highway near farms, you'll find a few here and there. Bonus points if it makes you late for school or work!

9. We're nice to a fault.

We don't want to sit around silently when we can have a small conversation about sports, an incoming storm, or people we both might know. Why not try to make more friends?

10. There really are quite a few tornadoes, but we really only care about the big and/or destructive ones.

Tornadoes are both cool and dangerous, but most of us go our whole lives without seeing big ones like this. Not everyone is cut out to be a storm chaser, that's for sure.

11. The weather here is definitely crazy.

Raining one day, sunny the next, and snowing later on. Sometimes it even happens all in one day!
