Kansas has seen its fair share of crazy since becoming a state in 1861… of the many weird things that happened in Kansas, one of the weirdest may just be the story of Pam Babcock, a Ness City woman who sat on the toilet for so long that her skin grew to the seat.
Here is what happened...
In 2008, Ness City police were called to the home of a man who was reportedly concerned about his girlfriend.
Upon entering the home, police discovered the man's girlfriend sitting on the toilet, where she had allegedly sat for the last two years.
It didn't take long for the officers to discover that the 35-year-old woman was stuck to the seat... but how? Come to find out, she had sat on the seat for so long that her skin had actually grown around it.
How did she live so long? Her boyfriend brought her food and water multiple times a day.
After refusing medical intervention, the woman finally gave in and was taken to the hospital to have the seat removed with a pry bar.
Conflicting reports stated that the woman, identified as Pam Babcock, only sat on the toilet for a month, while others stated almost two years. Charges were later pressed against her boyfriend, Kory McFarren, for the mistreatment of a dependent adult.
In an even crazier, unrelated twist, McFarren went on to win the Kansas lottery later that year.
What do you think: Is the story of Pam Babcock one of the craziest Kansas stories you've heard, or have you heard worse?
