There are tons of great places to visit all around the Hawaiian Islands. But the friendliest town in Hawaii has to go to Makawao Town, a cheerful Cowboy town and art community on the island of Maui. It’s a small town, but there’s plenty to do. Whether you come for the rodeo, the artwork, or the best bakery on the island, you’ll leave happy after visiting this charming small town in Hawaii.

There’s a small little town called Makawao that’s filled with cowboys, artists, and some of the best baked goods on the island. This town is a must-see if you’re out and about exploring.
This town is also home to horses and all manner of ranch animals.
It’s not uncommon to see cowboys riding down the middle of the street. And if you enjoy horseback riding yourself, be sure to check out the nearby pasture lands and forests.
The Makawao Forest Reserve is nearby, complete with great hiking trails.
The Kahakapao Loop Trail is a favorite, climbing through forested areas with beautiful wildflowers. It’s a moderate hike that’s perfect during the heat of the day.
The Makawao Rodeo is held annually on the Fourth of July and is a huge draw.
Watch Hawaiian cowboys, or Paniolo, barrel race, calf rope, and bareback bronco ride. It’s just like your traditional rodeo, but with a Hawaiian twist!
And don’t forget the art galleries and community in this small town.
In fact, it was voted one of the top 25 art community destinations in the entire United States. You’ll find glassblowers, wood sculptors, and painters, as well as the gorgeous Hui Noeau Visual Arts Center.
And while you’re in town, you have to stop at T. Komoda Store.
This bakery is a local Maui favorite since 1916. You’ll find cream puffs, donuts on a stick, butter rolls, and other mouthwatering pastries.
It’s hard to decide what you’d want to see first, so you might want to stay awhile.
All this, topped off with some of the friendliest locals in the Hawaiian Islands? It’s a great place to kick back, relax, and stay awhile.
