There are an infinite number of reasons to love living in the Mile High City, and I have no intention of leaving any time soon. But that doesn't mean we're not without our faults. Here are some of the biggest risks of living in Denver, and all the reasons why no one else should move here! (Wink, wink.)
1. You WILL get stuck in traffic. A lot.
Maybe it has to do with the fact that our population increased by 101,000 in just one year!
2. Even the scenic byways have traffic jams.
3. You will witness or be in a car crash.
Denver seriously has THE worst drivers I've experienced in ANY city I've lived in - with NO regard for lanes or any other traffic rules for that matter.
4. This wreck may even involve three cars. WTH!?
(Note: I literally saw two wrecks just last week. Learn, how to drive, people!)
5. Your car may get hit while innocently parking on the street.
I walked out one morning to find that not one, not two, but THREE parked cars on my street had been hit by a hit-and-run driver. One poor soul's entire windshield was knocked out, and we will never catch that shameless white whale.
6. You never know when the next snow flurry is going to strike.
A PSA from Accuweather: Snow to coat Denver following immobilizing blizzard.
7. Denver drivers are significantly worse in inclement weather. (If that is even possible.)
8. Speaking of inclement weather...
This Flickrer said, "He'll need to lube his chain after this." LOL!
9. If the snow and rain don't get you, the sunshine will!
This Flickrer said, "...this was the first I didn't get horribly horribly sunburned! Two years ago, my buddy and I forgot sunscreen doing exactly the same thing as seen above and we were called "spring tomatoes" all week in school as a consequence of our oversight. Behind goggles, eyeballs and pupils were burnt, even my tongue and roof of my mouth were burnt from the reflecting snow! It was terrible."
10. If you go out day drinking on Cinco de Mayo and forget to wear sunscreen...
11. If you're hiking below 9,000 feet, beware of rattlesnakes!
"Always carry a flagon of whiskey in case of snakebite and furthermore always carry a small snake." - W. C. Fields
12. Bad Mexican food WILL happen to you.
This Yelper said, "It's not that it's very good it's just that I spent too much money on it to let it go."
13. Good Mexican food will happen to you. A lot.
14. You may never want to leave!
(Except to climb mountains, that is.)
On the flip side, here are 30 Reasons Denver Will Always Be Home. (But still: No one else move here.)
