Revolutionary Road was one of the top films of 2008. The romantic drama directed by Sam Mendes received several Golden Globe and Academy Award nominations. It marked the on-screen reunion of Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio, who starred together in the 1997 blockbuster Titanic. Where does Revolutionary Road take place? The movie centers on the troubled marriage of the Wheelers, played by DiCaprio and Winslet. The two marry in 1948 and move to suburban Connecticut shortly after.

With the exception of some ending scenes in New York City, almost the entire film was shot on location in Connecticut.

1. Pinewood Lake, Trumbull

Some of the film's beach scenes were filmed along the shores of Trumbull's Pinewood Lake.

2. Sasco Beach, Fairfield

You can also see Leo and Kate walking along the shores of Sasco Beach in a few scenes. Many locals were hired to play the couple's fellow beach-goers.

3. Route 8, Beacon Falls

There's a nighttime scene of the Wheelers arguing in the car as they drive along Route 8 in Beacon Falls. DiCaprio even stops for a bite to eat at a hot dog stand (which is actually a farm stand along the route).

4. Train Station, Thomaston

In the film, DiCaprio's character commutes into New York City for work. Several of the scenes were filmed at the train station in Thomaston.

5. Darien

The Wheeler family lives in Darien, and the in-home scenes were shot in a real house built in the 1950s. The homeowners allowed the studio to redesign the interior of the home to reflect 1950s architecture and decor.
