There are endless reasons people from around the world flock to the magnificent City by the Bay. But we can all agree on these dozen things to love about San Francisco. Yes, even the fog.
1. Burritos
A day doesn’t go by without a San Franciscan daydreaming about their next Mission-style burrito. We also really love arguing where to get the absolute best one.
2. The Fog
San Francisco would not be the same without it. Trust us, it freaks you out when it’s gone, right?
3. Random 80-degree Days in February
As much as we love the fog, we also crave some serious vitamin D. Every now and then the clouds break and the sun peeks through, basking the city in its warmth. Because no one has A/C, we’re forced to put up with it and head to the beach.
4. Free Stuff
Living in one of the most expensive cities in America means you need to be in constant lookout for good deals. Fortunately, there are plenty of free things to do in San Francisco to keep you sufficiently entertained.
5. The City’s Epic Hills
The number of hills in San Francisco depends on how you actually define a "hill," and so the official count falls somewhere between 42 (according to 1959’s "Hills of San Francisco") and over 50. And, no, we don’t mind climbing any of them—they truly define our city.
6. Any Reason to Celebrate

7. Green Space
With only 49 square miles to work with, San Francisco has managed to squeeze in over 220 parks and open spaces throughout the city.
8. Murals
No, art is not dead in the tech capital of the world. Artists continue to beautify our urban landscape with rich, vibrant messages that speak to local issues, human rights, and gentrification.
9. Local Coffee
We love our java in San Francisco, which boasts a number of "third wave" pioneers and innovative roasters. Here are just a few unique coffee shops to prove it.
10. People-watching
San Francisco is unarguably one of the best cities to just sit and be entertained my mankind.
11. Dogs
San Francisco is consistently rated top dog (sorry!) in the most dog-friendly cities in the nation. In fact, dogs even outnumber children here.

Our openness to all is world-renowned. And our pride comes in all forms.
