If you aim to be a law abiding citizen, you might want to take a look at these 11 laws in Southern California that will make you scratch your head in wonder. Who knew these things were actually illegal? Have you been breaking any of these weird laws in SoCal?
1. If you live in San Diego, you should probably be aware that it's illegal to shoot rabbits from the back of a streetcar. I guess you'll need to be at the front of the streetcar. Or maybe just don't shoot them at all.
2. Temecula is all about ducks, so it only makes sense that ducks have the right of way when it comes to crossing Rancho California Street. That's just the polite thing to do, if you ask me.
3. In Long Beach, you better keep your language clean as there is no cursing allowed on a mini golf course. You better stick with "Well darnit" and "Ah shoot!" if you want to avoid getting kicked off the course.
4. If you are a law abiding citizen, you'll avoid riding your bike in a swimming pool in Baldwin Park. Not just because it's a silly thing to do, but because it's illegal.
5. In Glendale, driving your car in reverse is apparently illegal. I'm not sure how people back up or parallel park without breaking the law, but if you want to be a lawful citizen you won't drive your car in that direction.
6. In the town of Norco in Riverside County, a person must obtain a $100 permit in order to keep a rhino, tiger, lion, leopard, monkey, or any other exotic animal you might find in a zoo.
7. In Santa Monica, it's illegal to play a percussion instrument on the beach. So maybe just stick with your harmonica, a guitar, or even a piano, so you can avoid a harsh fine.
8. If you keep your Christmas lights up past February in San Diego, you may be fined up to $250. Now that's the spirit of the season!
9. In the town of Blythe, you must own at least two cows in order to wear cowboy boots. So either you need to buy some cows or I guess you need to stop wearing those boots.
10. In Palm Springs you'll need to keep your camel off the street on Palm Canyon Drive between 4 and 6pm. But go ahead and take your camel for a walk during the rest of the day.
11. In Los Angeles you are not allowed to drive more than 2,000 sheep down Hollywood Boulevard. So as long as you only have 1,999 sheep then I guess you're good.
I had no idea any of these things were actually illegal in Southern California. For a few more head scratchers, here are 7 more laws in SoCal that I bet you've never heard of before today.
