The Dam Keeper's House is located in the town of Fawnskin in the San Bernardino National Forest. Perfect for a Sunday drive, this unique destination is one you'll want to see in person.
To reach this landmark, you can head to the access road off of State Highway 18. Signs are clearly posted so keep a lookout for the directions to the access road while traveling down the highway.
This historic house has a fascinating history. Dating back to 1890, the Dam Keeper's House was originally constructed a few years after the local dam was built and used as a home base for the local dam keepers who would use this as their residence.
The Dam Keeper's house was built in 1890. Over the next 80+ years, it was home to multiple dam keepers and their families.
By 1977, when there was no longer a need for a resident dam keeper, the home was left vacant and returned to the US Forest Service.
Since that time, this historic structure has fallen into disrepair. What remains is only a skeleton of the former residence.
Please note, the Dam Keeper's House is a historical landmark so entering the structure is off-limits. To enjoy this house you'll want to experience the exterior only.
