You may be used to finding tons of sand along our Southern California beaches, but did you know there was a massive sand dune tucked inside one of SoCal's local neighborhoods? This unexpected hidden gem is just one more treasure to add to your list of things to see and do in the Golden State.
Tucked inside the city of Manhattan Beach, you'll find a unique three-acre park with a 100-foot sand dune.
Located at 33rd and Bell Avenue, Sand Dune Park has been a part of the Manhattan Beach area since 1964.
To reach the park be prepared to take some stairs.
Lots and lots of stairs actually. There are some people who just come here to use the stairs for a great workout.
But the real draw at Sand Dune Park is, of course, this massive sand dune.
As if the stairs weren't enough of a workout, just wait until you sink your toes in the sand and try to climb to the top.
Once you reach the top you'll be treated to a breathtaking panoramic view of the city. There's really no other place quite like it in Manhattan Beach.
Due to the popularity of Sand Dune Park, the city of Manhattan Beach has implemented a reservation system that will allow you to schedule a designated time slot to enjoy the sand dune.
