If we know anything about Southern California, it's that beauty can be found everywhere you turn, even in the most unexpected of places. For example, Los Angeles may be the second most populated city in the U.S., but that doesn't mean there aren't places where you can find some peace and quiet. This meditative labyrinth and garden is a pleasant surprise in the heart of L.A. When you feel like escaping the hustle, a few hours in this beautiful destination is bound to leave you feeling restored and rejuvenated.
Hiding in Los Angeles is a stunning Renaissance-style mansion where you'll find a quiet slice of tranquil paradise. Peace Awareness Labyrinth and Gardens is a much-needed spiritual retreat in this busy, busy world.
Describing itself as a "spiritual oasis in the city", Peace Awareness welcomes anyone and everyone to visit the labyrinth and garden to "unwind your mind." The beautiful surroundings are well-worth seeking out when you need a quiet place to gather your mind.
Peace Awareness was established as a non-profit center that's dedicated to peace and spirituality. The destination acts as the headquarters to the Movement of Spiritual Inner Awareness ("MSIA"), which was founded in California during the 1960s and developed a large celebrity following. Whether you identify with MSIA's beliefs or not, the center is open for anybody who wishes to experience the peace and quiet of the garden.
Used for thousands of years as tools for meditation, there's no better way to clear your mind than by walking through the labyrinth's geometric design. The outdoor stone labyrinth is so beautiful. If you've never experienced a labyrinth walk, the docents will gladly assist you!
If the labyrinth isn't your thing, you can always take a moment to reflect in the meditation garden. Descending the stairs into the garden, you'll immediately be swept away by the tranquil setting that includes flowering trees, fountains, and a lily pond.
Visitors can also enjoy walking through the Italian Renaissance mansion. Originally built for the Guasti family in 1913, the mansion was purchased by famed Hollywood director Busby Berkeley. Docents are available to share the villa's beauty and guide visitors through the main floor and grounds.
A bit peculiar but oddly enticing, Peace Awareness Labyrinth and Gardens is the perfect stop when you need to take a moment to yourself. Visit their website to learn more about this oasis in the city.
