Are you craving something completely new and unexpected with your South Dakota hike? While the state has plenty of different trails to choose from, you may be looking for something a bit more unique and Facebook profile picture worthy. Sound like you? No need to scour the Mount Rushmore State for such a hike, as we have discovered this beautiful oak forest trail that is truly one-of-a-kind:
If you love to hike, get ready to discover your new favorite trail. It's tucked away inside our good old Good Earth State Park, and it's sure to please.
Established in 2013, Good Earth is one of South Dakota's newest state parks and was formed in order to preserve local history and educate the public.
Spanning a lush 588 acres, Good Earth is not only a place to learn and reflect but to also hike, as it boasts five trails ranging from 1 to 3.3 miles!
While we recommend checking out every trail in the park, there is one that stands out as the best: the short and sweet River Lookout Loop.
What makes a short hike like this so unique? Aside from the surrounding meadow and beautiful views, it is the thick oak forest that the trail winds through.
It doesn't get any more natural than a tunnel of trees!
When you visit, make sure to set aside enough time to explore, as there are more trails to hike and nature to enjoy, and even a Visitors Center you might never want to leave.
Good Earth State Park is located at 26924 480th Ave. in Sioux Falls and is open May 1st through September 30 from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. and October 1st through April 30th from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.
