Did you know there’s a newer amusement park in South Carolina called The Funplex? It may have slipped in under the radar since it opened in 2021 as the world was beginning to recuperate from the pandemic. It’s an interesting addition to the attractions in Myrtle Beach, and it has a one-of-a-kind interactive ride that thrill seekers will love.
The Funplex is a tiny amusement park located a block from the beach on North Ocean Boulevard in Myrtle Beach.
On less than an acre of land, there are seven fun rides to enjoy. There's no admission fee. You purchase credits or wristbands based on which rides you want to experience.
The Mach Fun was added to The Funplex in August 2021, about three months after the park's grand opening.
It's a record-setting ride that reaches an altitude of 50 feet, reported as the tallest interactive 360-degree flying jet ride on the market and the first of its kind in North America.
Seated in pairs side-by-side, guests experience the sensation of flight as they climb, dive, and barrel through the air at maximum airspeed.
Guests have the ability to control their roll, inversion, and height flipping their plane 360 degrees, which makes this a fully interactive and unique experience.
You can even stop while inverted for more hang time!
The Funplex is open seasonally beginning in March and the park stays open well after dark.
Stop by the Off-the-Coast Beach Bar and Grill on-site for snacks or a meal after you're finished or in between rides.
Visit The Funplex website and The Funplex Facebook page for more information and updates. And if you’ve already been to this new park, leave us a comment and share what your experience was like! Did you ride the Mach Fun? What was your favorite ride?
Check out Palmetto Shores if you’d like to stay overnight nearby. It’s an RV Resort with plenty of fun things to do right there, too, all year long!
