Sometimes it seems like we're always posting about fun day hikes, or trails that lead to the top of a mountain and back. All are perfectly fun and exciting ways to explore the Palmetto State. But here's an adventure everyone will love reading about, and a trail that some may decide to conquer. This hiking trail is one sure way to feel accomplished and discover some surreal natural sights.
The Foothills Trail Through Hike is one that dishes up dreamlike vistas as you make your way from beginning to end. The trip is sure to test your backpacking skills as you may your way from point to point discovering unreal treasures along the way.
The trail is nearly 68 miles in length and not for a novice hiker. But experienced trekkers are all over this moderately trafficked trail that traverses mountaintops while dishing up long range views of our beloved South Carolina mountains.
Along the way, it plunges down a steep staircase into a gorge where you'll cross one of the many, many bridges along the trail. And then climb the staircase back up the other side. Oh, it's an adventure alright!
Deep in the gorges you'll cross breathtaking streams and small rivers riddled with boulders and waterfalls. Be sure to plan enough time on your trip to be able to stop and truly appreciate spots like these.
And more bridges. There are so many, that after a while you may lose count — so take lots of photos!
For sure, this is a hike you'll be needing to bring everything with you for several days to a week. You'll encounter all sorts of other hikers camping along this popular trail too - so be prepared to swap digits and add new friends to your Facebook list, as being on the trail is definitely a bonding experience!
The recent storms we've had in and rolling through the Palmetto State could mean you'll need to make your way around some downed trees, but again - it's worth it.

Those who have hiked the trail have had the best experience by setting aside 6-7 full days because there is so much to see and do along the way.
