Dining out in the Palmetto State means choosing from tried and true go-to spots you've been frequenting for what seems like ever (and with good reason...) or stepping outside the box and creating a foodie adventure you're sure to remember. If trying new places and having new experiences are ever on your agenda, then head to the Lowcountry for an over-the-water (and over-the-top!) feeding frenzy like no other.
Whether you're enjoying the peaceful water views from inside Fleet Landing Restaurant...
or outside from their delightful perch on top of Charleston Harbor, this is one eatery you won't soon forget.
The food is positively amazing, with an extensive menu featuring traditional American and seafood fares.
Nothing beats a rounder of flavorful raw oysters than eating them over oyster beds that are likely below the very wharf on which you're dining!
This location was once home to the ferry that shuttled folks back and forth to Mount Pleasant (long before the big Cooper River Bridge was constructed). In 1942, the Navy torn down the ferry and built the current structure. In 2004, it opened as Fleet Landing Restaurant.
The eatery is situated at the very end of Charleston's famed Market Street and in front of the oft photographed Customs House.
Any visit to Charleston to sample this over-water restaurant can easily be combined with sightseeing in the historic district, or a visit to the City Market.
Whatever you eat, drink and order at Fleet Landing, save room for dessert with a view!
