When temperatures spike, it's always good to have a place in mind to enjoy the outdoors while cooling off in the water. Sure, you can head to the beach, but you may not always be in the mood to fight the traffic or search for parking. Thankfully, there are other options! From natural water parks to natural water slides, South Carolina has quite a few cool, outdoor escapes for summertime fun.
Chau Ram County Park, located in Westminster, is one such place. This fantastic outdoor water playground has so much to see and do, that you'll be happy to learn you don't have to leave!
That's because this county park has a campground with 26 sites perfect for creating the waterfall vacation of your dreams.
The park is located along a one-mile stretch of the Chauga River, a stretch that includes four different waterfalls in which to play.
In between the falls, you'll find some smooth creek beds suitable for splashing and cooling off without all of the rushing waters of the waterfalls.
The park also has a sandy beach where you can spend the day enjoying the sun and the cool waters of the Chauga River.
Chau Ram County Park has spots for day visitors too. Several picnic shelters (with and without gazebos) are available for those not wishing to camp or spend the night.
More than four miles of trails dish up a variety of terrain and fun features, like the county's longest suspension bridge.
For a day (or week!) in the sun at the state's most unique waterfall campground, head to Westminster's Chau Ram County Park!
