As Myrtle Beach's most visited attraction, Broadway at the Beach is a premier destination on the Grand Strand for family entertainment, delicious dining, and all kinds of shopping. Located about 1.5 miles west of the Atlantic Ocean, the massive complex covers over 350 acres, and although there are no ocean views, it does have a pretty 23-acre lake in the middle known as Lake Broadway. The road circling Broadway at the Beach is called Celebrity Circle, from which you will park your car and then walk into the complex. And once you enter, you will need hours to explore! In fact, it's the type of place you really could spend an entire weekend without leaving, one of the best things to do in Myrtle Beach.
You'll even find accommodations at Broadway at the Beach if you just want to stay right there during your entire trip. October is a great time for this type of adventure when you may not be as interested in spending time on the beach and when temperatures are a little cooler and crowds are less. The Hampton Inn Myrtle Beach is the only one that's located along the Celebrity Circle area of the complex, so it's your best option if you want to be right in the middle of all the action!
The Shopping
Broadway at the Beach is a shopper's paradise with over 100 specialty shops to peruse! Those of us who spend the majority of the year in flip flops can always add a new pair into our collection, the perfect starting point for this grand adventure.
If your kids are with you, they'll want to make a stop at one (or all!) of the toy stores. Other cool shops to check out include Sanibel Sunglass Company, Fresh Produce, Ron Jon Surf Shop, Boardwalk Winery, Devo Olive Oil Co., FantaSea (coastal home accessories), It'Sugar, Kligs Kites, Stupid Factory (gifts of the funny and sarcastic nature), and so much more.
The Dining
With over 20 restaurants at Broadway at the Beach, there is no problem for picky eaters. Everyone can find something to suit their taste or cravings. At Extreme Pizza, you'll find fresh unique toppings to create a custom pizza. Or if you'd rather keep it simple and order a menu option, this Aveiro signature pizza with Portuguese linguica, smoked bacon, pepperoncini, roasted red peppers, tomato sauce, mozzarella, and fresh cilantro is a delicious choice.
Some of the other restaurants you'll find at Broadway at the Beach include Hard Rock Cafe, Joe's Crab Shack, Southern Grill, Sweet Carolina's (BBQ), and YAMATO. If you'd like to visit one of the celebrity-owned spots, try Wahlburger's or Paula Deen's Family Kitchen. And then, when you need a sweet treat, stop by Insomnia Cookies or Cold Stone Creamery.
The Entertainment
And last, but certainly not least, let's talk Broadway at the Beach entertainment. The Pavilion Park offers an amusement park setting divided into two areas of attractions to enjoy some of the most fun things to do in Myrtle Beach. The Fun Park, aptly named, features the iconic Broadway 360 Observation Wheel, a Merry-Go-Round, Monster Trucks, a Speedway, and more. At The Action Park you'll find the Wave Swinger, the Riptydz Slide, the Cliff Hanger, and more.
For theater performances, you could catch one happening outside such as this Houdini-style escape by illusionist Charles Bach that took place just outside Wonders Theater on select nights during the summer of 2021. Other theaters to catch performances at include Legends in Concert ®, The Simpsons in 4D Aztec Theater, and the Broadway Theater.
Dinosaur enthusiasts must visit Dino Park, which offers a Jurassic world style experience of over 20 animatronic life-sized dinosaurs in a unique true to life setting, a 100,000-ball Dino Explore Pit, Dig a Dino Fossil, and even an opportunity to ride a ginormous Tyrannosaurus Rex. This may be some of the most unique Myrtle Beach activities!
And don't miss a chance for a photo-op with one of your favorite stars (a realistic wax version, that is!) at the Hollywood Wax Museum.
This is just a sampling of the different types of entertainment attractions you can enjoy at Broadway at the Beach. Some others include Ripley's Aquarium (the most popular), WonderWorks (an "edutainment" style science-focused amusement park), and more.
Visit the Broadway at the Beach website for a complete listing of all shops, restaurants, and entertainment attractions. We'd recommend wearing a comfy pair of good sneakers and making a flexible plan ahead of time for which activities you want to prioritize especially if you have limited time when you visit. As you can see, you'll need a fair amount of time if there are a lot of shops and attractions you want to explore!
