With Murrells Inlet known as the "Seafood Capital of South Carolina" and located less than 14 miles from Myrtle Beach, you may think the last thing the area needs is another seafood restaurant. And yet, in 2023 a new seafood restaurant opened up near Myrtle Beach in Murrells Inlet and has quickly become a local favorite, even gaining "Best of the Beach" recognition by The Sun News! It's called the Hippie Hen House, and you're going to want to check it out the next time you're in the area, especially if you like crab.
This seafood restaurant near Myrtle Beach is located along Highway 17.
Not only are people loving the food at this little eatery, the atmosphere is also getting great reviews and is described as comfortable with friendly, attentive service.
One of the most-loved menu items is the massive, unique crab pretzel, made from a famous Benjamin's Bakery pretzel topped with crab meat and cheddar cheese. It makes a great shareable appetizer!
Also very popular are the crab cakes, which are Maryland-style, full of lump meat and flavor and like what you'd find if you were actually visiting the Chesapeake Bay.
Of course, you may not be in the mood for seafood or perhaps there's someone in your group who's not a seafood fan, and there are plenty of other delicious options available, whether a burger...
... a sandwich ...
