Cities are really nice due to the conveniences that they afford, unfortunately THEY are usually not affordable. So, I have compiled a list of the Top 10 affordable, yet, still great places to live in South Carolina for you.
10. Bluffton
Bluffton resides in the lowcountry of Beaufort County. The average 3 bed/2 bath home here will cost you around $175,000.
9. Moncks Corner
Moncks Corner sits in Berkeley County and has a lot of great perks such as the Cypress Gardens, Biggin, and Old Santee Canal State Park. The average home price here is $173,500.
8. Rock Hill
Rock Hill is the largest city in York County. It's just gorgeous here and is home to Winthrop University, York Tech, and Clinton Junior College. The average cost for a home here is around $173,000.
7. Boiling Springs
Boiling Springs is in Spartanburg County which keeps the amenities of the city close enough to enjoy, but far enough away to keep the cost down. The average home price here is $166,600.
6. Moore
Moore is more like a very large community of Spartanburg rather than a city or town of its own. So, again, you have that close city feel without the city prices. The average home here will cost you around $165,000.
5. Conway
Conway resides in Horry County and most people feel that Conway is becoming more like another part of Myrtle Beach the way that the two of them are growing together. However, Conway is a part of the metropolis and Myrtle Beach has its own treasures such as Coastal Carolina, amazing restaurants, and gorgeous views. The average home here will cost around $164,600.
4. Anderson
Anderson has been dubbed as "The Friendliest City in South Carolina". It's not too far from the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains and has tons of historic sites for you to explore. An average home here will cost $162,400.
3. Lugoff
Lugoff is a small town that sits in Kershaw County and is part of the Columbia Metropolitan area. There are tons of things to do in and around the Columbia area. An average home price in Lugoff is around $161,000.
2. Walterboro
Not only does Walterboro offer loads of history and historical sites to visit, but they also have a great art vibe going on here. And, it ranks #2 on our list so the average home here will cost you around $144,300.
1. Hopkins
We have made it to the cheapest, but best place to live in South Carolina...Hopkins. Hopkins is part of Richland County and is only a blink from downtown Columbia. It's definitely a great place to live and the average home here will run you around $125,500.
There you have it guys, the top 10 budget-friendly, but great places to live in South Carolina. If you hadn't guessed, the way these were ranked was the cost for a nice 3 bedroom/2 bath home. Real estate seems to be a big factor in how towns and cities rank on cost. Did any of these surprise you? I ask that because there were one or two on here that surprised me. I wouldn't have thought that some of them were as budget-friendly as they are.
