Spending time outdoors is just so good for the soul – from drinking in the fresh air to soaking up the golden sunshine. Sometimes, though, a day outdoors simply isn’t enough, and we’re yearning for an old-fashioned camping adventure. That’s just what you’ll get when you reserve a stay at George Washington State Campground in Rhode Island.
You won’t find the modern amenities of everyday life – think: no electricity – when you camp at George Washington State Campground in Glocester. But that’s what makes this camping experience so special.
Nestled on 100 acres in the 4,000-acre state park, the cozy campground is picture-perfect whether you want to pitch a tent or park your trailer or RV.
Welcoming guests from mid-April through late October, the campground features 45 camping spots with plenty of space to spread out and enjoy nature.
However, be prepared to do without electrical hookups. You can access water from shared areas in the campground while the shower facilities feature flush toilets.
Reservations are required, and you can book your stay online.
Chances are, however, you won’t spend a whole lot of your time in the campground, especially when you have the gorgeous park to explore. The park boasts a full menu of amenities – boating, biking, fishing, and swimming.
Don’t forget your hiking boots or comfy shoes, either, because the park offers three somewhat lengthy trails. The easy, eight-mile North South Trail, for example, doesn’t get too busy and promises peace, quiet, and beautiful views.
