In Rhode Island, we tend to reserve our beaches and shoreline for the warmer months. But there is something entrancing about holiday lights sparkling on the water. Starting the day after Thanksgiving, there's a wonderful waterfront Christmas festival where shimmering lights are just the beginning of the attractions.
Bowen's Wharf in Newport is always a great place to take a stroll. This captivating waterfront has restaurants, shops, and beautiful waterfront views. Add the glow of twinkling lights and you have postcard-perfect scenery, that will put you in a jolly mood for the upcoming holidays.
Kick off the season on November 23, 2018 from 4 p.m. - 8 p.m. for a holiday block party and boat parade. Enjoy live music and the lights as you prepare to enter the Christmas season.
Check out the boats on the waterfront all decked out in their most festive decor. The sparkling reflections make the parade even more magical.

On December 1, 2018 from 4:30 p.m. - 7 p.m. take part in the 48th annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony.

Once again, shops will be open late, so bring your list along and knock some of that shopping out.
