Despite its compact size, Rhode Island still has quite a few relatively remote spots, where we can find a bit of solitude. Some of the most beautiful landscapes, in fact, remain undeveloped, including much of this remote park in Westerly, Rhode Island. While it doesn't boast a full menu of activities like many of its counterparts, Dr. John Champlin Glacier Park is idyllic for a scenic hike.
You can't miss the sign welcoming you to Dr. John Champlin Glacier Park and, if you look to the left, you'll also see a tree created by rocks.
If you're a fan of taking photos, you'll find this is the perfect spot to start snapping pictures of your adventure.
Tallying 134 acres, the remote Rhode Island park is largely undeveloped and void of amenities. There are no restrooms, for example.
Leashed pups are permitted in the park. Remember, too, that everything you take with you in the park you should bring back out with you.
When you arrive, park in one of two lots. The Tom Harvey Road lot has a dozen spaces and some street parking while the Shore Road lot has just three spaces.

The best way to explore this picturesque park is on one of the hiking trails, which together clock in at around two miles.
While the trails are considered easy, keep an eye out for roots jutting out of the ground, and be prepared for some uphill climbs.
Unfortunately, the area can get quite buggy during the warmer months. Don't forget to wear bug spray and bring some with you, too.
You'll find plenty of opportunities to relax, too, on one of the benches in the park.
