What a lot of people don't know is there are a number of actual castles throughout the state that are just as impressive. While they might not hold a torch to real medieval structures throughout Europe, they are still a magnificent place to visit and take in the gigantic and historic views.

4. Malbone Castle: As one of the oldest privately owned estates in Newport, the Malbone Castle was built as the country residence of Colonel Godfrey Malbone.
5. The Towers: This Narragansett structure is the last remnant of the Pier Casino built in the 1800s.
