It's pretty much impossible to imagine a Rhode Island summer without Narragansett... and we never want to imagine a trip to Narragansett without including The Coast Guard House. This iconic eatery is such an integral part of Rhode Island life.. and the fact that the food happens to be delicious is just a bonus.
For locals and tourists alike, The Coast Guard House is a must-see place in Narragansett.
You'll find the restaurant at 40 Ocean Road, near the iconic Towers.
The restaurant sits perched above the rocky Rhode Island coastline, and the location alone is pretty amazing.
This place could survive for the views alone, but luckily they deliver so much more.
The Coast Guard House Restaurant was established in the 1940s, but the actual structure goes back much further.
The name isn't just a gimmick. The US Coast Guard (which was known as the United States Life Saving Service back then) built this place in the late 1800s.
For generations, this has been a destination dining spot -- and since 1979, it has been open year-round.
Rhode Island is a coastal state, but there are very few places where you can enjoy fine dining mere feet from the sea like this.
Speaking of fine dining, the food here is absolutely fantastic.
The cuisine here is as local as it gets, using fresh seafood, locally raised meats, and fresh local produce.
While seafood is the main attraction at The Coast Guard House, it's far from the only thing on the menu.
The Land section of the menu includes Filet Mignon, Ribeye, and so much more.
If you enjoy a cocktail, try an Early Summer Tide or something else on the impressive list.
Whoever creates the cocktails here is a creative genius.
Dining at The Coast Guard House is a unique experience -- and we mean that in the best way.
From the exceptional service to the unbeatable views, not to mention the quality of the food, it's not something you'll soon forget.
Make a reservation to dine here this summer. You won't regret it.
The eatery is open daily from 11:30 a.m. - 9 p.m., except Friday and Saturday, when they close at 10 p.m.
