Harvest season starts in September and apple orchards open to the public, ready to sell people everything they have been waiting for since the beginning of winter the year prior. There is one cider mill in Rhode Island and it is located on Aquidneck Island in Jamestown on a small farm. They serve the freshest cider products in-state. The Hard-Pressed Cider company can be found at Windmist Farm which is located at 71 Weeden Lane in Jamestown, Rhode Island. From Labor Day to Thanksgiving, they are open to the public serving their apple products.
Their cider has only one ingredient - apples. There are no sweeteners or other additives. That is why it tastes so fresh. At the Hard-Pressed Cider Company, they have mastered their apple art using a perfect variety of locally sourced apples.
Every Saturday in the fall they put the apples in a large press and squeeze them hard right before they bottle up their freshly made cider. As the season progresses, the apple varieties change, altering the flavor little by little.
They fry their homemade cider doughnuts every Saturday and Sunday using their own fresh cider as one of the main ingredients.
Don't they look delicious? They have the perfect balance of apple and sweetness after they are coated in cinnamon sugar.
