Summer in Rhode Island is really something special, there are stunning beaches, delicious fresh seafood, and fun around every corner! It's tough to be bored in the Ocean States hot months. However, one issue is that Rhode Island summers are not exactly a secret anymore, a lot of spots are guaranteed to be packed from sunup to sunrise. That's why we've made you a list of some of the state's best secret spots where you're guaranteed to find some peace and quiet while still making the most of your summer.
1. Neutaconkanut Park
This picturesque park is located right in the middle of Providence Rhode Island, but shockingly enough, it's quite unknown! Enjoy the trails, soak up the gorgeous nature, and maybe even spot some wildlife on your visit!
2. Rough Point Museum
An impressive mansion museum, Rough Point in Newport is often near empty and is a lovely spot to wander on those days when it's just too hot to be outside. The museum features a huge collection of art and decor that will impress art lovers of all tastes.
3. Prudence Island
This little island in the Narragansett Bay is the perfect place to get away from the hustle and bustle of the mainland. Take a ferry over and find a quiet oasis to rest and relax for a day. Or make it a longer trip, there are some beautiful spots to stay on the island!
4. Sachuest Point National Wildlife Refuge
Rhode Island has more wildlife refuges than you'd expect for the smallest state, and Sachuest Point in Middletown is one definitely worth a visit. There is so much to be seen in the refuge. Keep your eyes to the sky for birds of all kinds, but don't forget to take in the gorgeous landscape as well!
5. Touro Synangogue
A house of worship might not be your first thought for a summer excursion, but Touro Synagogue in Newport is packed with history, education, and art. It is the perfect place to spend a day learning about Rhode Islands Jewish history and keeping cool in the relative calm and quiet.
6. Snake Den State Park
Full of natural beauty, Snake Den State Park in Johnston Rhode Island is 1,000 acres of nearly untouched terrain just begging to be explored.
7. Delekta Pharmacy
Sometimes on a hot day, all you want is a good cold drink and a nice spot to sit, and Delekta's in Warren is a killer place to do just that! This old school soda fountain has all sorts of delicious cold drinks to enjoy while surrounded by awesome antique pharmacy ware!
