We all have treasured holiday traditions that add that extra touch of magic to Christmastime. While we might not be able to embrace all of our favorite traditions this year, because of closures and social distancing due to the pandemic, we can still create magic with a visit to those long-cherished events that remain. Overly’s Country Christmas near Pittsburgh, for example, has returned for the season, although it will look a bit different this year.
A cozy holiday celebration that’s bursting with twinkling lights and light displays, Overly’s Country Christmas at the Westmoreland Fairgrounds in Greensburg will feature a drive-thru only event in 2020.
Because of the pandemic, the walk-thru portion of the event will be closed this year. However, you’re still for a ton of fun.
Overly’s Country Christmas has been a favorite Christmastime stop for Pittsburghers and Western Pennsylvanians since it first debuted in 1956.
The drive-thru light display will be considerably larger than in the past, and you’ll still get to see all of the favorite characters of years past, including Henny Hemlock.
Yep, as you’re driving through the light display, you can still listen to – and groan with a chuckle – Henny’s jokes. Turn your radio to the designated station to hear Henny and to sing along with Christmas carols.
Make sure the kiddos bring their letters to Santa who will be on hand to wave as you pass by and to take your letters. You might even see the Grinch lurking about, too.
You can even buy goodies as you make your way through the twinkling light display.
