We're quite fortunate to live in the 21st century when we can easily (and conveniently) experience Pennsylvania's history through the words of writers, the landmarks across the state, and the photographs that make those long-gone times leap back to life. 1. The Greensburg Athletic Association in Western Pennsylvania was one of the first professional football teams in the state. The team is shown here in a photo from 1894.
