We can all probably agree that PA has a ton of aboveground destinations to visit all year round. However, sometimes we want to mix things up and explore high above the ground on a canopy walk or go deep underground on a tour of a cave. If you're up for an underground adventure, join a tour at Lost River Caverns in Pennsylvania.
Journey 80 feet underground for a one-of-a-kind tour at Lost River Caverns, a staple in Hellertown since 1930.
Tours are available all year round, although the cave is closed on select holidays. You'll join other visitors on a tour of the underground natural limestone cave.
Follow a seasoned tour guide through five different rooms that offer glimpses of flowstone, stalagmites, and stalactites.
To really get the most out of your experience, wear a pair of comfy shoes since you'll be doing quite a bit of walking.
The natural cave maintains a year-round temperature of 52 degrees Fahrenheit, so you may want to bring a jacket or a sweater to help you stay warm.
Your adventure's just beginning after your tour! Stop by the on-site Gilman Museum, where you can check out a variety of minerals and other fascinating artifacts.
Don't forget to stop by the gift shop that's jam-packed with interesting finds, souvenirs, and gifts.
You might even want to make a day of it with a picnic at the Picnic Grove.
