Autumn's right around the corner. While trips to the beach and the pool may be coming to an end, you'll still find plenty to do during the cool fall months. From hay and wagon rides to pumpkin picking, here are 10 picture perfect fall day trips to take in Pennsylvania.
1. Hellerick’s Family Farm – 5500 North Easton Road, Doylestown, PA 18902

2. New Hope & Ivyland Railroad – 32 West Bridge Street, New Hope, PA 18938
All aboard the New Hope & Ivyland Railroad’s Fall Foliage train ride for spectacular views of the rustic autumn colors. The 2.5 hour train ride travels 20 miles from New Hope to Wycombe. The Fall Foliage Train Ride will leave the station on weekends from September 30 to October 29, 2017.
3. Rickard’s Cider Mill – RR 2, Honesdale, PA 18431
Mmm..mmm…nothing says fall like a trip to a cider mill. Rickard’s Cider Mill has been a must visit for Pennsylvanians since 1929. Stock up on all of your fall favorites at the charming cider mill, including fresh cider, pumpkins, honey, and maple syrup. Rickard’s Cider Mill reopens for the season in late September.
4. Whistle Pig Pumpkin Patch – 3369 SR29 South, Noxen, PA 18636
Enjoy the fresh autumn air on a delightful day trip to Whistle Pig Pumpkin Patch. You’ll find plenty to do, including scenic hay rides, a four acre corn maze, a string maze, and a pumpkin patch. Whistle Pig Pumpkin Patch welcomes visitors the last weekend in September through the last weekend in October on Fridays from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., Saturdays from noon to 9 p.m., and Sundays from noon to dusk.
5. Gateway Clipper Fleet – 350 West Station Square Drive, Pittsburgh, PA 15219
Sail along Pittsburgh’s Three Rivers for a breathtaking view of the fall foliage. The Gateway Clipper Fleet offers a spectacular four hour fall foliage cruise that includes dancing, entertainment, games, a lunch buffet, and plenty of spellbinding scenery. The Fall Foliage cruise sets sail October 7, 13, 14, 20, and 21.
6. Grim’s Orchard & Family Farms – 9941 Schantz Road, Breinigsville, PA 18031
Go apple and pumpkin picking at Grim’s Orchard & Family Farms during its annual Fall Festival, kicking off September 17. Enjoy a full menu of activities, including hay rides, a corn maze, pedal cars, farmer paintball, bounce pillows, and duck races. The Fall Festival will be open on Saturdays and Sundays in September from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. October hours include Fridays from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., Sundays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and on Columbus Day from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
7. Ole Covered Wagon Tours – 1538 Marsh Creek Road, Wellsboro, PA 16901
Admire the spellbinding fall foliage along the floor of Pine Creek Gorge, the Grand Canyon of Pennsylvania. Ole Covered Wagon offers charming classic fall foliage wagon tours most days during September and October. You can also join the Fall Foliage Waterfalls Tour that will require you to take a short hike to spectacular waterfalls. Train rides last between three and four hours.
8. Rockhill Trolley Museum – 430 Meadow Street, Rockhill, PA 17249
Explore the Rockhill Trolley Museum this fall then climb aboard an authentic trolley. The museum offers several trolley tours during the autumn season, including the Fall Spectacular on October 7 and 8. Pick your own pumpkins after riding the Pumpkin Patch Trolley on October 14 and 15 and dress up on Halloween Costume Day on October 21-22 and 28-29. Experience the romance of the rails on the Fall Foliage rides aboard the Oil Creek and Titusville Railroad. The picture perfect train excursion runs on Wednesday through Sunday from October 1-22, 2017. Sit back and watch the rustic scenery pass by during the three hour train ride. Or, get up and head to the open air car for another view of the fall foliage.
10. Cool Spring Corn Maze & Farm Market – 537 Franklin Road, Mercer, PA 16137
Find your way out of an intricate corn maze at Cool Spring Corn Maze & Farm Market. The spectacular fall celebration features a ton of fun activities, including the corn maze, hayrides, pumpkin picking, mechanical bull riding, pony rides, and gemstone mining. Cool Spring Corn Maze welcomes visitors on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from September 15 to November 5, 2017. Visit Fridays from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m., Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
