It's nice to go for a hike on one of Oregon's many trails, and it's great to play at a park, but a stroll through a botanical garden is one of the best ways to spend a sunny day in the Beaver State. When it come to gorgeous gardens, Oregon has several to choose from. Take a look at The Oregon Garden in Silverton:
Though the idea of creating this botanical garden first came about in the 1940s, it wasn't a reality until until the groundbreaking in June of 1997. The Oregon Garden celebrated its 15th anniversary in 2016, and it just keeps getting better.
The Oregon Garden is located at 879 W. Main St., Silverton, OR 97381.
The garden includes more than 20 different specialty gardens. Each is unique in its own way, and each highlights a different theme. Allow yourself a few hours to fully explore and appreciate this place.
You'll find several spots to just sit and relax while soaking in the scenery. The garden is a great place to unwind and just bask in the beauty of nature for awhile.
Themed gardens include the Conifer Garden, Home Demonstration Garden, Wetlands, Rose Garden, Children's Garden, and more - each one with special features like this Hobbit House found in the Children's Garden.
There's even a pet-friendly garden, so bring your pup along! Just make sure to keep him on leash, and pick up after him. He'll love this pretty place, and will likely meet a new friend or two during his visit.
Keep an eye out for whimsical characters and outdoor art throughout the gardens. You never know what you might find here!
During summer months, Movies in the Garden make a great family outing. Admission is just $4 for adults, $3 for teens, and $2 for kids, and free for garden members. Munch on some popcorn or candy from the concession stand.
