The story of Pronto Pup begins in the small coastal town of Rockaway Beach back in 1930s.
Originally a small hot-dog stand on the beach, Pronto Pup made a name for itself after owner George Boyington decided to make "buns" for the hot-dogs as needed, since the rain had been ruining his pre-made buns.
The result? The corndog! From the start, Pronto Pup was a big success.
Pronto Pup's delicious hand-dipped corndogs quickly became a national sensation, and franchises opened up all across the country. While many places claim to be the birthplace of the corndog, no known accounts pre-date George Boyington's.
Today, you can visit the Original Pronto Pup location for a taste of this classic homemade corndog.
The inside of the restaurant features nostalgic 1950s style decor and furnishings that will make you feel like you've been transported back in time.
