It seems as though everyone is making the trip to Portland to see what all the hype is about. It makes total sense; we've got some of the most beautiful and interesting places in the country. Here's a list of 10 of the most underrated places to take an out-of-towner:
1. Oregon Museum of Science and Industry(OMSI)
Experience science the fun and interesting way at the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry. If you're looking for an adult night out, you have to check out OMSI After Dark where you can try local wine and beer while conducting science experiments.
2. Multnomah Falls
You have to make the trip to see Oregon's tallest waterfall. Not only is it shockingly beautiful, but it's a pretty easy but blissful hike to see it (although you can see it from the bottom also).
3. Cartopia Food Carts
It wouldn't be a trip to Portland if you didn't try food from our infamous food carts! Cartopia, on Hawthorne, is by far one of the most popular and delicious food cart lots in the city.
4. Lan Su Chinese Gardens
For a culturally beautiful experience, what is better than visiting a traditional Chinese garden that's located smack dab in the middle of downtown Portland? Nothing.
5. Mount Tabor Park
Have a picnic on a dormant volcano that happens to be one of the most beautiful areas in Portland.
6. Portland Farmers Market
You'll definitely want to try any of the Portland Food Markets to try some of the most delicious produce from local farms and purveyors. Like a true Portlander!
7. Portland Aerial Tram
See all of Portland at once by riding the Portland Aerial Tram. There is nothing better than plunging into Mount Hood and Portland's skyline!
8. Forest Park
One of Portland's best characteristics is being so close to all things green. Take advantage of the beautiful nature by traveling 15 minutes out of downtown Portland to take a glorious hike.
9. Pittock Mansion
Start your hike in Forest Park and end it at Pittock Mansion. Not only do you get to see one of the most glorious mansions in existence; but better yet, you get to see this view.
10. The American Local
For food that's as creatively delicious as it looks, check out The American Local in SE Portland. Better yet, sit at the Chef's bar to watch the magic happen.
