The Oregon Coast is one of the Beaver State's most glorious *and* accessible natural wonders; its 363 miles of shoreline is free and open to all. This doesn't just include humans; many Oregon beaches are open to dogs, too! In fact, not only are pets welcome on most of the state's beaches, they are also allowed off-leash in many areas (provided they are trained and not harassing fellow beach-goers). The next time you're in the mood for surf and sand, grab a leash and bring your pup to one of these 10 dog-friendly beaches in Oregon:
1. Cannon Beach
Cannon Beach is one of the most canine-friendly spots along the Oregon Coast. There are coastal trails and sea stacks to explore, as well as expansive, uninterrupted shoreline. As long as your pup stays within sight, doesn't bother other beachgoers, and responds to commands, he is free to play off-leash at this beautiful Oregon beach!
2. Oceanside Beach
This stunning stretch of beach on the northern coast of Oregon is known for its rugged natural beauty and amazing scenery. It's a wonderful place for dogs to explore, as it's one of the state's less-crowded beaches.
3. Yachats
With a population of just over 600, Yachats is a gem of an Oregon Coast town. From exploring tide pools to searching for agate, it's the perfect choice for a relaxing, less crowded beach excursion with your pup.
4. Manzanita
Roughly two hours from Portland, Manzanita is a beautiful, pup-friendly place that's less crowded than nearby Cannon Beach and Seaside. As long as your dog responds to voice commands, he is free to play off-leash at this incredibly scenic beach.
5. Beverly Beach
Beverly Beach is a perennial Beaver State favorite; its shores are pristine and picture-perfect. It's also one of Oregon's most dog-friendly state parks; not only can your pup run off-leash on the shores, but Beverly Beach State Park also offers pet-friendly camping and yurt rentals, too! Bring Fido for a little getaway at the beautiful Beverly Beach.
6. Pacific City
Pacific City is a beach town located beneath the large headland of Cape Kiwanda. Sandy beaches, expansive panoramas, and spectacular surf make this a dream for ocean lovers -- and their four-legged friends, too!
7. Cape Lookout State Park
Cape Lookout is located on a sand spit between Netarts Bay and the Pacific Ocean. This scenic park is a popular destination for hiking, beachcombing, and visiting sites along the Three Cape Scenic Loop. Dogs are allowed on the beach at Cape Lookout State Park, but must be on a six-foot leash. They are permitted off-leash on the stretch of beach just north of the campground.
8. Oswald West State Park
Oswald West State Park is an absolute gem; boasting a beautiful beach, its own temperate rainforest, incredible geographical wonders, and unparalleled scenic beauty. The beaches at Oswald West State Park are equally extraordinary, with Short Sands Beach feeling like something out of a fairy tale. Bring your dog for a delightful adventure at this superlative state park!
9. Rockaway Beach
This off-the-beaten-path beach is a wonderful place to take your pup for a perfect Oregon beach day. At Rockaway, there are seven miles of beach, wide open and ready to explore, with more than 31 public access points sprinkled throughout town.
10. Lincoln City Beach
Lincoln City Beach was recently voted one of the best beaches in the country, and it's a favorite for four-legged visitors, too!
