Calling all space lovers! There's a fascinating space museum in Oklahoma that's home to many artifacts from different space missions. Take a visit to this cool place and see space suits, rockets, a space shuttle, and much more.
Stafford Air & Space Museum is located at 3000 Logan Road in Weatherford and was named a Smithsonian Affiliate in 2010.
This fascinating museum in honor of famed astronaut, Lt. General Thomas P. Stafford - a born and raised Oklahoman.
Stafford was selected by NASA in 1962 and flew four historic space missions: Gemini 6, Gemini 9, Apollo X, and Apollo-Soyuz; three of them as mission Commander.
Several items at the museum were obtained from the Smithsonian, including a Gemini space suite and an actual flight pressure suit.
There's over an acre of exhibits all under one roof. They have one of the finest collections of aviation and spaceflight in the central United States.
Over 20 historic aircraft fill the museum, along many planes from modern aviation.
Like rockets? You're in luck because there are many different rocket engines, including large scale ones.
Rockets of the "Space Race" is another exhibit rocket fans will want to see.
Stafford Air & Space Museum is open 7 days a week and is one of Oklahoma's must-see attractions.
