If you're digging through lists of the hundreds and hundreds of hiking trails that Oklahoma has to offer, it's probably hard to decide which one you want to try out. Allow us to make a suggestion: Post Oak Falls Trail is a gorgeous out and back (meaning they begin and end in the same place) trail near Indiahoma, and it leads to some of the most beautiful views in Oklahoma.
You'll begin your hike at the Post Oak/Treasure Lake trailhead.
This trail is mostly easy, though from time to time you might have to do a little rock-hopping or skipping across running streams or creeks. As long as you can do that, you'll do great!
It's one and a half miles of exceptionally beautiful and super-unique Oklahoma landscape.
You'll make your way through towering granite cliffs to a subtle-but-stunning little waterfall known as, predictably, Post Oak Falls. On the way, you'll pass through intriguing, nearly-alien worlds unlike anywhere else in the state.
You'll see everything from large, precariously-balanced boulders on rocky hills to beautiful, sparkling lake views.
You'll realize toward the start of your hike that there are a few choices you can make in terms of which trail to take - no worries, because they all wind up into one another anyway.
After you go due North for about a half mile, you'll want to look for a little unmarked dirt trail leading East.
You'll follow this tiny dirt trail, where you'll encounter a creek. The creek may or may not be flowing, depending on the time of year and on whether or not there have been recent rains.
The best time to do this hike is shortly after it rains, because then you'll definitely see the waterfall!
Follow the creek for about 150 feet. You will soon find the beautiful Post Oak Falls, a small-but-gorgeous waterfall that also boasts a mine-turned-cave nearby! Think you can find it?
There is no swimming permitted here, so it's very important to remember to simply look and appreciate without hopping in.
During the spring and summer months, it's much more likely that the falls will be running and the lake will be brimming. We strongly suggest bringing your camera, because the entire hike is super-photogenic.
We feel like the whole trail offers one of the most beautiful views in Oklahoma.
It's ridiculously scenic, and a welcome change from the usual plains, hills, and woods that make up the vast majority of the Oklahoma landscape.
