Sitting on a hill just outside of Bartlesville is an abandoned house known as Labadie Mansion. You can hike to the top and explore the ruins of this deserted house that's rumored to be haunted. Here's a look at the history and hauntings behind this abandoned 19th-century mansion.
The old stone mansion sits on a hill and is easily hikeable. Here is a look at it from the Google satellite view. It's located just north of Bartlesville in the town of Colcord.
Th Labadie family built the beautiful mansion and lived in it from 1880-1935. Lot's of tragedy surrounded this family in the early 1900s, including several murders.
Rumors have spread over the years that Mrs. Labadie had an affair with their servant and Mr. Labadie murdered him. Then there were additional murders and suicides that took place on these grounds before the Labadie family passed on.
Two fires have occurred at the mansion and all that is left is this dilapidated stone structure and the fireplace.
The mansion is known nationwide as one of the most haunted locations in the state. It looks like a scene out of a horror movie.
Visitors to the mansion have reported seeing strange figures shouting names, dysfunctional flashlights, weird smells, smoke from the fireplace and strange animals.
Several of the Labadies are buried close to the grounds of this mansion and people believe their spirits are still scaring people away today.
Whether these stories are true or not, it's a fun place to hike to and explore. The next time you're in northeastern Oklahoma, lace up those hiking boots and check out this abandoned spot just north of Bartlesville.
