Here in Ohio, we have quite the history, much of which is hiding in our small towns.
If you've ever spent some time in Yellow Springs, Ohio, then you know it's a truly unique, one-of-a-kind town worth exploring. (Check out our previous article about this particular town here.) But did you know that this southwest Ohio town is also home to the oldest bar in the state? Most people don't, but it's certainly a must-stop when you're in town. Take a look:
After you've taken some time to explore the town, local shops and nature preserve, head on over to the Ye Olde Trail Tavern for some excellent food and spirits—with a side of history.
You'll find it at 228 Xenia Ave., Yellow Springs, OH 45387.
Ye Old Trail Tavern dates all the way back to 1827, when the town was known as "Forest Village", before it became Yellow Springs. The tavern was actually built from trees that once stood where the tavern stands today.
For years, it was a popular stage coach stop along the route from Columbus to Cincinnati.
Inside, you'll find rustic decor, a cozy fireplace and several relics from the tavern's early days. Antique lovers will particularly appreciate the atmosphere here.
You can visit the tavern Sunday - Thursday from 11 a.m. - 9 p.m. and Friday - Saturday from 11 a.m. - 10 p.m.
Be sure to look around and ask questions to get the full story of this Ohio gem.
From October to March, you can visit on Friday - Saturday from 11 a.m. - 11 p.m.
