Although you've likely visited many of the popular and frequently photographed waterfalls in Ohio, there's a lesser-known waterfall hiding in the small town of Dundee. Beach City Wildlife Area in northeast Ohio is home to a lesser-known trail that leads to an underrated waterfall known as Dundee Falls. It's a hidden gem that doesn't get a lot of foot traffic, which just means it's waiting for the serious Ohio waterfall chasers to find it. So let's head to the Dundee Falls Trailhead -- adventure awaits!
Hiding close to Ohio's beloved Amish Country, you'll find a little-known wildlife area that's home to a beautiful waterfall.
It's especially refreshing to encounter this hidden gem on a hot and humid summer day.
Clocking in at a grand total of two miles out and back, this waterfall trail in Ohio can easily be completed within an hour or two. It's rated as "easy" on AllTrails due to little elevation gain, but it can be challenging to hike after rainfall.
As such, be prepared for mud, roots, and rocks, and stay on the main dirt trail. Markings can be hard to spot, so pay attention to your surroundings and don't wander too far. Dress and plan accordingly!
Less than a half-mile into the trail, you'll encounter the main waterfall. You could always stop here and walk back to the trailhead if you don't have the time.
Of course, we recommend exploring the creek and gorge further. This is an immensely beautiful area of the Buckeye State that's well-worth exploring!
The trail is open year-round, so coming back when the weather is cooler will give you a different view of the surrounding falls and scenic creek.
