Ice cream is the perfect sweet treat any time of year, but it's especially delightful in the heat of summer. Cincinnati may just be the ultimate ice cream town, with creamy whips and ice cream parlors on so many neighborhood corners throughout the city. Last summer, we shared an Epic Creamy Whip Trail and now we are back with a roundup of ice cream shops that will surely make your mouth water. This ice cream trail in Cincinnati is all you've ever dreamed of and more, and is a great way to spend a few days this summer.
1. Putz's Creamy Whip
Cincinnati might as well be the creamy whip capital of the world, and Putz's has a lot to do with that. This soft serve mecca right off of I-74 has been a Cincinnati tradition for generations and is a place that should definitely be on your bucket list. They also serve burgers, hot dogs, and snacks. They only accept cash, so come prepared! Putz's is located at 2673 Putz Pl., Cincinnati, OH 45211.
2. Graeter's
What would an ice cream trail be in Cincinnati without a stop at Graeter's? You can pick from any of their several locations, but we're partial to the charm of the Clifton shop on Ludlow. Order a scoop of your favorite flavor and remember why our city is famous for this creamy French pot-style sweet treat. Graeter's has multiple locations, but the Clifton store can be found at
332 Ludlow Ave., Cincinnati, OH 45220.
3. Buzzed Bull Creamery
Buzzed Bull Creamery is a unique stop on this ice cream trail, as they make their ice cream like no other in town. You can choose your own mix-ins (including alcohol options), for one-of-a-kind treats. You can learn more about this fun creamery in our previous feature article here. Buzzed Bull Creamery is located at
1408 Main St., Cincinnati, OH 45202.
4. Aglamesis Brothers
Aglamesis Brothers is a practically perfect ice cream and candy shop that is filled with overwhelming charm. It's exactly what you'd expect in a locally owned, classic ice cream parlor, and their homemade ice cream is absolutely divine. Aglamesis has two locations, but the original can be found at
3046 Madison Rd., Cincinnati, OH 45209.
5. Old Milford Parlor
Step back in time with a visit to the Old Milford Parlor. Located in the heart of the Milford business district, order a classic cone and take a seat outside for the complete experience. They also have delicious coffee, baked goods, and other offerings. Plus, it's just too cute for words! Old Milford Parlor is located at 119 Main St., Milford, OH 45150.
6. The Root Beer Stand
The Root Beer Stand is the ultimate nostalgic stop on this trail, and we previously featured it here. It's a Cincinnati family tradition and a great spot for ice cream and, of course, an epic root beer float. The Root Beer Stand is located at
11566 Reading Rd., Sharonville, Ohio 45241.
7. The Cone
It's hard to miss this favorite Cincinnati ice cream shop, which is shaped just like its name. The Cone has sweet and creamy soft serve, you can get it any way you like. They now also serve edible cookie dough. It's the ultimate stop in the Queen City to cure a sweet tooth! The Cone is located at
6855 Tylersville Rd., West Chester Township, OH 45069.
It's an incredibly difficult task to narrow down the massive amount of ice cream shops in Cincinnati to just a few to include on the ultimate list, but these are definitely some of the favorites and must-tastes in our city! Is your favorite on the list? What other shops or stands would you add? Let us know in the comments!
