One of the best things about our Cincinnati Parks is that you can find many dedicated areas in the heart of our city that take you right into nature. Of course that is the goal of these properties that make green space a priority and give us easy access to wooded trails, fresh air, wildflowers, wildlife, and more. One of the lesser known parks within the system is Caldwell Nature Preserve. This acreage is unique in that it offers incredible old growth forest and over three miles of hiking trails in Cincinnati so you can explore it. Escape to this natural oasis in the heart of our city for rest and relaxation under the trees.
Caldwell Nature Preserve is located on North Bend Road, in an area you may not expect to find a beautiful old growth forest.
Thankfully, this property has been preserved for us to enjoy today. It offers easy hiking trails, one of which is even paved, and an escape into nature that is sure to provide relaxation.
Caldwell is special, thanks to its old-growth forest and variety of beautiful scenery.
Along the trails you'll find diverse plantlife and many species of wildlife. And it's all easily accessible from anywhere in the city.
The preserve is one of only three parks within the city limits that offers an old growth forest.
And the 3 1/2 miles of hiking trails in Cincinnati are ideal for exploring it. These trails are well kept and many spots even include new bridges for easy access.
As you walk along the trails, you may find yourself with views of Mill Creek.
There is also a paved path within the preserve that is accessible to all. Anyone can make their way into the canopy of the woods.
The five trails within Caldwell Nature Preserve all have something different to offer and they are lovely all year long.
In the spring, look for wildflowers and wildlife that is anxious to get out in the warmth and sunshine.
Throughout summer, the preserve becomes a magical place, covered in a blanket of green.
And of course in the fall, that green transitions into a rainbow of warm colors.
Always be on the look out for events held at the preserve and at its Nature Center. Fall is a great time to visit for one of these gatherings.
Winter can be just as magical, especially when covered in a blanket of snow.
