It's officially fish fry season in Cincinnati and we may just be the best city in the country when it comes to the options available for classic fish fries on Fridays during Lent. If you drive around town right now, there are about as many yard signs sharing fish fry information as you'd see during election season. It seems everyone loves a good fish fry and wants to get in on the fun. If you are overwhelmed by the choices, don't worry because we've narrowed it down to 7 of the best gatherings around the city that you simply must try.
1. Woodlawn Firefighter's Association & The Pike Bar & Grill - 10010 Springfield Pike, Woodlawn, Ohio 45215
The Woodlawn Fire Department is teaming up again with local eatery, The Pike Bar & Grill for delicious menu options and tons of fun. The Fish Fry takes place at the restaurant on Fridays from 11am to 9pm and includes favorites like fried cod, mozzarella sticks and fried oreos. For more information, check out their event page here.
2. Hartzell United Methodist Church - 8999 Applewood Dr., Blue Ash, OH 45236
Hartzell UMC in Blue Ash specializes in homemade sides and desserts, including made from scratch tarter sauce! They serve fresh, fried cod and it's all-you-can-eat! The event runs Fridays, February 16th through March 16th from 4pm tp 7pm. For more information, check out their event page here.
3. Mary Queen of Heaven Fish Fry - 1130 Donaldson Road, Erlanger, Kentucky 41018
Mary Queen of Heaven in Erlanger has long been known as one of the best fish fry locations in the Cincinnati area. Home of "The Codfather," they have fun with this annual tradition and their menu can't be beat! This year, they've even added shrimp tacos! The Fish Fry is held Fridays during Lent from 4pm to 8pm. 4. Bridgetown Finer Meats - 6135 Bridgetown Rd., Cincinnati, OH 45248
This westside favorite meat shop is known as a specialty market and wine store, but it is also known for its stellar fish sandwiches during Lent. Known as Fabulous Fish Friday, they offer a variety of specials from 11am to 6:30pm, Fridays until Easter. For more information, visit their website here.
5. St. William - 4108 W. 8th St., Cincinnati, OH 45205
Many call the Fish Fry at St. William in Price Hill the best on the west side! You can try it for yourself, any Friday during Lent from 4pm to 7:30pm. 6. All Saints Catholic Church - 8939 Montgomery Rd., Cincinnati, OH 45236
If fried fish isn't your preference, then All Saints has you covered. In addition to fried cod, they offer grilled salmon and tilapia, fish tacos, and also sweet potato fries and much more! 7. St. Barbara Church - 4042 Turkeyfoot Road, Erlanger, Kentucky 41018
For one last favorite fish fry, head south again to Erlanger and check out St. Barbara Church. Open Fridays during Lent from 4:30pm to 8pm, they also have a drive-thru for convenience or you can enjoy your meal inside and even add a glass of beer or wine from the bar.
