If there were a popularity contest between all the meals of the day, it's safe to say that brunch would run away with the delicious prize. This in-between meal seems to be a favorite of just about everyone and restaurants everywhere have taken notice. Whether you enjoy sleeping in a bit or love the variety of a menu that includes both breakfast and lunch food, chances are you enjoy a good brunch spot. Well, if you haven't tried this particular Cincinnati restaurant, conveniently located on a corner of downtown, then you better open up your late morning schedule this weekend. Nation Kitchen and Bar quite possibly has the best brunch in our city and you have to try it.
Conveniently located on the corner of Broadway and East 12th street downtown, Nation Kitchen and Bar has been delighting Cincinnati food lovers for the past two years.
The modern, yet comfortable and chill vibe is extremely inviting and the menu is filled with classic American fare that has been majorly turned up a notch. The story behind the name of the restaurant is just as intriguing as the establishment itself. Named after Carrie Nation, who famously tried to rid the world of alcohol during prohibition by attacking taverns with a hatchet, is said to have stopped in her tracks when she reached OTR because, in short, it would be too much work to achieve her goal. Nation says it aims to serve "as a tribute to the rich history of this city and neighborhood. It is meant to be an extension of your living room, a place for gathering neighbors, and a foundation for building community."
Aside from the creative name and cool atmosphere, Nation is even more well known for its amazing food, and specifically brunch.
On Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., you can enjoy a mouthwatering brunch menu, which includes the option of a bottomless brunch. With this deal, you can choose an item from their brunch menu and also receive bottomless mimosas, bloody carries (their version of a bloody Mary), or screwdrivers. It's a brunch lover's dream come true.
The brunch menu includes so many favorites, it's difficult to choose just a few.
But this "Hangover Burger" is definitely one of the items that tops the list. It's a burger with goetta, ham, cheddar, onion, tomato, mayo, and a fried egg on an english muffin.
And you can't go to Nation without trying the tots.
Order them on the side or during brunch try them with cheddar cheese, sausage gravy, & fried egg piled on top.
You'll either need to show up to Nation extremely hungry or plan on many return trips.
The seasonal french toast is another favorite, as is the Brunch Wrap Supreme and the Cincy Hot Brown.
If for some odd reason brunch isn't your thing, don't worry, Nation is good any time of day.
They are also known for their creative and unbelievable burgers, which just so happen to come with a Thin Mint on the side. If you visit on a nice day, the patio is also a great place to relax with anything from the menu or the diversely stocked bar. No matter when you decide to pay Nation a visit, go hungry, enjoy the ambiance and excellent service, and make plans for your next stop at this amazing brunch spot in Cincinnati.
Nation Kitchen and Bar has so many amazing items on their menu, it's hard to call out a favorite. That just means you have to keep going back. Have you been to this brunch mecca yet? What was your favorite thing on your plate? Share with us in the comments!
