Magical Places In Ohio

What are some more magical places in Ohio to visit?

This fairy tale road trip leads to some of Ohio's most magical places. The 2-3-day adventure offers visits to charming villages, beautiful castles, and gorgeous gardens and waterfalls. Here are a few highlights.

  • Squire’s Castle (2794 River Road, Willoughby, Ohio): On North Chagrin Reservation's 2,112 acres sits the stunning Squire's Castle. This gorgeous 1890s gatehouse is modeled after German and English baronial castles. The castle is accessible by Castle Valley Trail, a 3-mile loop hike, creating a quaint fairytale scene that crosses pastoral scenery, rich wooded forests, open meadows, and Buttermilk Creek. And folks often come here for picnics, weddings, and other events, such as lantern-lit walks inside this exquisite space.
  • Hayden Falls Park (4326 Hayden Run Road, Dublin, Ohio): Along the western shore of the Scioto River located within Griggs Nature Preserve sits a sparkling emerald that especially shimmers at about supper time gilded by the evening sun. In addition to beauty, the 35-foot Hayden Falls offers a unique natural ecosystem that comes with interesting plants and other wildlife. Bring your breakfast and eat at a picnic table on the upper level. A small parking lot is also available.
  • German Village (S. Third Street, Columbus, Ohio): The brick streets tell of a time gone by when this extraordinary place was settled by a number of German immigrants in the mid-1800s. And it's only minutes from the modern amenities of downtown Columbus. The historic village offers beautiful parks; small boutiques, including a very tall 32-room book store; and yummy restaurants. We are especially in love with the German Village Coffee Shop where the service is the friendliest and the pancakes and patty melt are the best we've ever tasted.
