It seems like there are new attractions popping up every single day here in Northern California. We're definitely not complaining, but sometimes it's nice to go back and remember our favorite pastimes from generations past. For instance, this vintage bowling alley has managed to hang onto its original retro charm and it makes for a fantastic destination for your next family night out. Whereas modern bowling alleys are all decked out with fancy amenities, you'll find that the simple charms of this historic bowling alley are more than enough for an evening of old-fashioned fun!
Tucked away in the historic town of Colusa is a vintage bowling alley that dates back to the 1960s. This place has had its ups and downs over the years but it's always held onto its retro vibe, and that's exactly what we love about it.
Riverside Lanes is one of the most historic bowling alleys in the state. Although the bowling alley initially opened around 60 years ago, it actually ended up going out of business until it was reopened in 2016. Since then, it's become one of the most popular spots in town to hangout and bowl a few games with family and friends.
It's evident that there's a lot of love towards this place. The retro bowling alley recently received some much needed TLC this year in regards to repairing and recoating the bowling lanes. Riverside Lanes is one of the only alleys in California with its original wooden floors, and preserving them is definitely important for the current owners.
In fact, the bowling alley does a lot to retain its vintage setting. On select days, guests can enjoy the tunes of the '50s and '60s while watching old black and white movies on the TVs. This place is truly like a time capsule of a bygone era!
In addition to its original wooden lanes and old-fashioned atmosphere, Riverside Lanes boasts some of the tastiest eats that Colusa has to offer. Their burgers are often touted as the best in the county, so be sure to try them out and see what the hype is all about.
The bowling alley boasts a large selection of classic snacks that are perfect for munching on in between turns. Be sure to check out their daily specials like Hot Wings & Beer on Wednesdays and $2 games with any meal purchase on Tuesdays.
It's not very often you stumble across a living piece of history like Riverside Lanes. Vintage bowling alleys like this one are a rarity these days, but it looks like this place will be sticking around for years to come.
