Consisting of 7.5-acres, Sisson Meadow is a beautiful place to escape the chaos of society. It's a popular destination for hikers and families, as it's outfitted with boardwalks, benches, and picnic tables to make it suitable for any type of outing.
You can access this beautiful destination via the main entrance on East Castle Street and another entrance on Alder Street. You can also access the main boardwalk from downtown by walking three blocks up Castle Street, past the pond, and to the Rotary Trail.
Follow the boardwalk and you'll soon find yourself immersed in the area's serene beauty. Surrounded by lush scenery, chirping wildlife, and pristine views, it's hard to believe this little slice of heaven is right in the middle of town. All the while, epic views of Mount Shasta, Mount Eddy, Black Butte, and Castle Spire remind you of the town's inspiring surroundings!
Spring and summer are an excellent time to visit the meadow since it's during this time the area is covered in blossoming fruit trees, wildflowers, and roses. However, there's truly no bad time to take visit Sisson Meadow—it's breathtaking all year long!
The meadow is accessible and fit for visitors today thanks to the Siskiyou Land Trust. They purchased the property in 2003 to protect it from being developed, and now it represents a pristine bit of natural beauty in the middle of the town of Mount Shasta.
