North Dakota is a wonderful place to live or visit; it's filled with amazing places, fun things to do, and lots of stuff to see, so it's a little strange to us that it's visited so... well... seldomly. Folks don't seem to know what they're missing, but you know what? That's alright - all the more for us. For example, today we'll check out a wonderful, family-owned farm-to-table cafe that serves up some of the best breakfast in all of Medora - if not in all the Badlands! This tiny cafe in North Dakota is worth a visit - or ten - and we think it just might become your new favorite place to eat while in Medora (or while visiting Theodore Roosevelt National Park, which Medora is the "gateway" to). The Farmhouse Cafe is a true hidden gem, and we think it ought to get a lot more love from visitors and locals alike! Check it out:
The Farmhouse Cafe is a relatively new nosh spot in North Dakota, having opened in 2017; it would become a local staple not long after.
If you were to sit down and read the reviews, you'd notice a bit of a pattern. Guests rave about the friendly service and the delicious - we mean DELICIOUS - menu.
The cafe is delightfully modern, with a rustic hipster twist.
But don't let all that modernity make you think Farmhouse Cafe isn't well worth the trip - because it most certainly is. Not JUST for the atmosphere, but for the food, too!
Farmhouse Cafe has the distinction of frequently being referred to as the "best breakfast in Medora," no matter what you order.
There are a few house specialties, though, that you cannot get anywhere else, and honestly - we're obsessed with them.
Maple bacon donuts, croissant French toast with chocolate syrup... it's like your tastebuds have died and arrived in Heaven.
What did they die of, you ask? Well, obviously. Deliciousness.
Duh.
Anyway, we digress: the Farmhouse Cafe is one of those places you only come across once in a while, and once you've tried it, you're going to want to come back.
Its place - nestled deep in the beautiful Badlands in the town of Medora - lends to its loveliness; it's not every day you find a cafe with pretty much the best breakfast you've ever had hidden in a region often considered "remote" by city-slickers. Remote as it might be, we can't resist the farm-to-table, family-friendly goodness that is the Farmhouse Cafe.
Stop in while they're open and sit for a while; no matter what you choose from the menu, you're sure to love it.
